Kia ora and welcome to the Churton Park School website.

My name is Anne Lye and I am very proud to be the Principal of this learning community. Our school provides learning for students from Year 1-6, with an emphasis on enjoying learning within an environment that is caring and innovative. With a strong focus on building caring, contributing citizens, our two teams are named after outstanding New Zealanders who epitomise these qualities. Hillary Team is all our Year 1-3 students, while Blake Team is our Year 4-6 students, and together we make the Churton Park School family - te iwi tahi tatou.

I am very passionate about providing the best learning environment we can for our children. I love leading the school, interacting across all the classes, supporting the teaching and learning.

At Churton Park School it is a delight to get to know the children and their families so that together we build our learning community, sharing student progress and achievement.

As a school we pride ourselves on our high quality teaching environment, strong family atmosphere, and commitment to building values which will help our children to reach their potential and to contribute positively as effective citizens.

It is an absolute delight to see our 5 year olds enter school, ready to start their learning journey with us and watching them gain confidence and skills over the following six years. In that time they are given a wide range of opportunities to develop academically, participate in cultural and sporting events, develop critical and creative thinking as well as leadership skills – all within a supportive and caring environment. This helps ensure they are well prepared for the next step in their learning journey.

Our Board of Trustees is committed to our school vision of empowering connected life-long learners, ensuring high quality resources are a feature in all our collaborative classroom spaces. Our four strategic goals help us all to work together to realise our vision statement.

  • CONNECTED TO LEARNING: Akonga (learners) become confident, self-motivated individuals.
  • CONNECTED TO EXCELLENCE: The development of a Growth Mindset will enable learners to stretch themselves, explore possibilities and opportunities with an openness to improve and build their strengths.
  • CONNECTED TO OUR FUTURE: Akonga will be future focused and open to possibilities and opportunities, willing to use the best of what they know and do while engaging with new thinking and technologies.
  • CONNECTED TO COMMUNITY: We are all in this together, and what we do has a wider impact. We want to be citizens who make a difference and influence for good in the wider world.

We have a highly supportive and involved community who are willing partners in their child’s learning. All of this, along with a hugely dedicated staff, ensures our children have the very best learning environment.

For all of us, the focus is our children. You can see why I am proud to be the Principal of Churton Park School.
