Curriculum: Scope and Purpose

The Churton Park School curriculum has developed over time and is the outcome of consultation with our community, staff and students.

It provides information about the unique characteristics of ours school and the influences which have driven our thinking about vision, the learning needs of our students and the teaching methodology appropriate to meeting and achieving our vision aspirations.

It is a continuation of the direction for student learning set out in the New Zealand Curriculum giving specific detailed guidance about what to teach, how to teach and assessment.

It is a medium with which to develop and maintain:
  • a supportive learning environment
  • independent and interdependent life long learners
  • reflective thought and action
  • the connection to prior learning
  • teaching as inquiry.
