HSA Newsletter for Term 4 2009.

The HSA committee would like to say hello and welcome to the new children & families who have joined our school community this term.

Coffee & cookies.

To welcome you we hold a morning tea in the school staffroom on the first Wednesday of each month. So this term’s dates are November 4th and December 2nd. All existing parents and caregivers are most welcome too. So come and have a chat with our committee members over tea and coffee, cookies or cake. We also have a toy box available for preschoolers.

What is the Home & School Association?

The Home & School Association is a group of parents who meet once a month to organise social events for our school families. We are also involved in raising funds to provide improved facilities and equipment for your children. This year we had a budget of $15,000 set by the Board of Trustees. So far we have raised over $17,500! A fantastic result and a big thanks to everyone who has supported us.

You are welcome to attend our meetings that are held on the 2nd Monday of every month (except school holidays) in the school staffroom. Next meeting is Mon 9th Nov 7.30pm.

If you feel that you could help with future events, but don’t want a regular commitment, please drop us a line through our box in the school office. The same goes for comments and suggestions for future events. Help is often required to ensure the various social events and activities organised by the HSA run smoothly and are successful. The old adage that ‘many hands make light work’ certainly applies.

Term 3 Quiz Thanks.

A HUGE thanks to those school families and friends that supported our Quiz Night in term 3. It was a great night and raised $2452 for the school which was put towards the purchase of the new data projectors and Mimio interactive white boards that are being used in the classrooms.

Introducing Jackie! I am originally from the UK, and have been in NZ for over 13 years. I am the proud mum of three kids, one each in the S, M and NE blocks. I have been secretary for the HSA for this last year and also help the Johnsonville Scout Group on their parent committee sourcing grants. This year I have been helping out in Rm16 for maths and library. I am usually seen around school sporting a felt beret; the pink is my current favourite, or maybe the orange, or is it the blue??
