Strategic Planning Process Letter to the Community
Dear Parents, Caregivers, Staff and Students,
Strategic Plan Consultation
As advised in the Board newsletter at the end of last term, the review of the Churton Park School Charter and the development of a new Strategic Plan is about to begin. We hope the process outlined below will provide an opportunity for everyone who has a stake in Churton Park School to express their opinion on the school and their dreams for its future.
To have your say, all you need to do is follow these 4 steps:
Step 1: The process
Read this letter, which outlines the process and the timeline for review.
Step 2: The questions
A list of questions is attached. This is being provided to all parents, staff, students and other members of the community. Please take the time to reply. Your opinion DOES matter. We would like responses by Monday 18 May. Responses can also be completed by email – the questions are available on the School’s website www.churtonpark.school.nz.
Step 3: Consultation
We realise that survey questions often get a limited response and that some people prefer to share their views in other ways. There will be an opportunity for a meeting for interested members of the school community for informal, friendly discussion. Watch for the date to be announced in parent newsletters and on the website .
Step 4: Final consultation
After all the information has been received, the Board will collate it into a useable format and put together the final document, which will be published in Term 3, 2009.
Why the review?
It is important that the long term future of the school is planned in a logical way. It is also timely to consult with the community following the recent announcement about schooling in Churton Park.
Who prepares the plan?
The Board of Trustees is accountable to the government for the long term future of the School, and as such has the responsibility for putting the plan together. It is very important that we gather input from our community so that the plan reflects your wishes as much as possible. Churton Park School is a community school and we need to be sure that our community supports the directions the Board takes. Please make sure you take the opportunity to have your say.
We have set a reasonably tight timeline as we feel it is important to have the plan well in place before the end of the 2009 school year. The detailed planning will then need to be done and incorporated into the budget.
We look forward to hearing from you and meeting many of you in the next months and feel very excited about the future of Churton Park School.
Yours sincerely
